Let's Go Sailing might
sound familiar to you if you like the Flaming Lips....engineer Chris Chandler
has been playing it as the house music after Flaming Lips shows while
the album has been in various states of completion over the last few years....
"Let's go sailing is full of rainbows and fairies. But it also has
a darker side...It is full of lost and neglected stuffed animals found
at the side of the road."
This is an exciting time for Let's
Go Sailing. After working on the debut LP "The Chaos in Order"
for the last few years, it is finally finished and has been made available
for sale on their website and in local stores in Los Angeles. Coinciding
with this release is a residency at the reknowned indie club SPACELAND
in Silverlake, CA every Monday in November.
In November of 2002, Shana Levy
left indie pop outfit Irving to pursue Let's Go Sailing. She asked friends
Tanya Haden, Nikki Monninger (Silversun Pickups), Brent Turner and Byron
Reynolds to work on an album's worth of material and soon enough they
began recording a demo with Chris Chandler (Flaming Lips/Modest Mouse/Elliott
Smith) and Rod Cervera (The Rentals/Weezer). The recording process quickly
gained momentum and, with the help of Chris and Jim Putnam (Radar Bros.),
Shana decided to make a hi-fi record independently. With lots of tweaking
and a little tlc from Ben Mumphrey (Frank Black), the record was finally
finished!!!!
A limited self release of 3 demo
tracks from the "The Chaos in Order" is also available on the
website and at independent record stores in Los Angeles including Sea
Level Records and Amoeba and has sold close to 1500 copies.
Contributing artists on "The Chaos in Order" include
Dave Scher (All Night Radio/Beachwood Sparks)
Elvis Perkins
Shon Sullivan (goldenboy)
Mandy Hoffman
